Moore defeats van den Berg in playoff in South Africa

Johannesburg, South Africa (SportsNetwork.com) - Titch Moore birdied the fifth playoff hole Sunday to defeat Ulrich van den Berg and win the Telkom Business PGA Championship.

Moore carded a 5-under 67 and van den Berg shot a 4-under 68 during the final round at Country Club Johannesburg to finish tied atop the leaderboard at 15- under-par 273.

The duo then returned to the 18th hole for each of the playoffs.

Van den Berg had a chance to end the playoff on two separate occasions, but missed putts from two and four feet to keep Moore alive.

Moore took advantage with his birdie putt at the fifth extra hole to earn his eighth career win on the Sunshine Tour, but first since the 2007 Coca-Cola Charity Championship.

JJ Senekal (70) finished in third place at 14-under, while third-round leader Oliver Bekker tripped to a 1-over 73 on Sunday to fall into a tie for fourth with Danie van Tonder (68) and Darren Fichardt (69) at 13-under 275.

Tyrone Ferreira (67) and Merrick Bremner (70) tied for seventh at minus-12.
