San Jose Sharks defeat Edmonton Oilers 5-4

Patrick Marleau's power-play goal at the 12:31 mark of the third period lifted the San Jose Sharks to a 5-4 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday.

Brent Burns and Dan Boyle finished with one goal and one assist apiece for the Sharks, who had dropped four of five entering the contest. San Jose (105 points) moved within a point of the Anaheim Ducks (106) for the top spot in the Pacific Division.

Antti Niemi stopped 25-of-29 shots faced in the win.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins had two goals and two assists while Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle chipped in with a goal and two assists apiece for the Oilers, losers in five of their last six games.
