Redskins land WR DeSean Jackson

Ashburn, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson is staying in the NFC East.

The Washington Redskins announced Wednesday the signing of the dynamic playmaker. According to multiple reports, Jackson, 27, joined the Redskins on a three-year contract worth $24 million, including $16 million guaranteed.

The Eagles released Jackson, a three-time Pro Bowler, last Friday after six seasons on the same day a report on NJ.com raised questions about his off- field behavior, mentioning alleged gang connections that Jackson vehemently denied.

On the field, Jackson is coming off his best season with career highs of 82 receptions and 1,332 yards. His nine touchdown receptions matched a personal best.

"We are all excited to have him join our team. Our team and this city will be there for him," Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III said about Jackson.

For his career, the California product has caught 356 passes for 6,117 yards and 32 touchdowns in 87 games.

The Redskins signed free-agent safety Ryan Clark earlier Wednesday.
