British F1 driver Lewis Hamilton won Sunday's Malaysian Grand Prix with a 17.3-second lead over Nico Rosberg, only to be interviewed on the podium by Sherlock and 12 Years a Slave star Benedict Cumberbatch.

"That was Incredible. After such a difficult weekend, a long winter, for such a great crowd, I feel so grateful," Hamilton told Cumberbatch, who was in Sepang for the weekend.

Hamilton dedicated his victory to the passengers of missing Malaysia airlines flight 370.

"After such a tragedy a few weeks ago I dedicate this win to those people and their families," he said.

Cumberbatch told BBC News that F1 CEO Bernie Ecclestone had asked him to conduct the interviews.

"You can't really turn that man down," he said of Ecclestone.
