Diamondbacks' Hernandez has elbow ligament damage

Phoenix, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher David Hernandez has been diagnosed with ligament damage in his right elbow and could need Tommy John surgery.

The Diamondbacks said Hernandez has damage to the ulnar collateral ligament and will seek a second opinion before a decision on surgery is made.

Hernandez has spent the past three seasons with Arizona and last year was 5-6 with a 4.48 ERA in 62 games. He has a career mark of 24-30 with a 4.14 ERA and 19 saves in five big league seasons with the Diamondbacks and Baltimore Orioles.
