After being released from the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday, Pro Bowl wide receiver DeSean Jackson released a statement denying he's involved with a gang.
The team announced its decision to part ways with Jackson after weeks of speculation it was considering a trade.
"After careful consideration this offseason, Eagles decide to part ways with DeSean Jackson. The team informed him of his release today," the Eagles said in a statement.
The move came just hours after NJ.com reported on possible connections Jackson has to known gang members.
After the announcement of his release, Jackson issued a statement denying he associates with gang members.
"I would like to address the misleading and unfounded reports that my release has anything to do with any affiliation that has been speculated surrounding the company I keep off of the field," he said. "I would like to make it very clear that I am not and never have been part of any gang. I am not a gang member and to speculate and assume that I am involved in such activity off the field is reckless and irresponsible."
