After being released from the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday, Pro Bowl wide receiver DeSean Jackson released a statement denying he's involved with a gang.
The team announced its decision to part ways with Jackson after weeks of speculation it was considering a trade.
"After careful consideration this offseason, Eagles decide to part ways with DeSean Jackson. The team informed him of his release today," the Eagles said in a statement.
The move came just hours after NJ.com reported on possible connections Jackson has to known gang members.
After the announcement of his release, Jackson issued a statement denying he associates with gang members.
[USA Today] [NJ.com]"I would like to address the misleading and unfounded reports that my release has anything to do with any affiliation that has been speculated surrounding the company I keep off of the field," he said. "I would like to make it very clear that I am not and never have been part of any gang. I am not a gang member and to speculate and assume that I am involved in such activity off the field is reckless and irresponsible."
