Houston tops NY Mets 9-6

Carlos Corporan and L.J. Hoes keyed a seven-run seventh inning with a pair of two-run doubles and the Houston Astros came back to top the New York Mets, 9-6, in spring training play.

Carlos Corporan and L.J. Hoes keyed a seven-run seventh inning with a pair of two-run doubles and the Houston Astros came back to top the New York Mets, 9-6, in spring training play.

After New York starter Alonzo Gee held Houston hitless through six frames, the Astros came alive in the seventh inning and plated two more insurance runs in the eighth. Corporan and Chris Carter each scored twice, while Hoes led the way with three runs batted in.

Gee struck out seven and walked just one batter, while his counterpart Scott Feldman went 5 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on five hits.

Anthony Recker hit his third home run of the spring for the Mets, and Juan Lagares went 3-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored.
