Diamondbacks clobber the Cubs

Chris Owings' three-run blast was one of six home runs hit by the Arizona Diamondbacks in a 14-4 win over the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday.

Chris Owings' three-run blast was one of six home runs hit by the Arizona Diamondbacks in a 14-4 win over the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday.

Mark Trumbo, Jordan Parraz, Brandon Jacobs, Rudy Flores and Aaron Cunningham also homered in the spring training win and Brandon McCarthy pitched six innings, striking out six and giving up three runs on six hits and a walk.

Chris Coghlan homered for the Cubs and Jeff Samardzija allowed just one run over three innings.

The Diamondbacks did most of their damage against Chris Rusin, who gave up nine runs and 10 hits in 2 2/3 frames.
