Ravens, Jets get 4 compensatory picks

The league announced a total of 32 compensatory picks for 13 teams on Monday.

The selections are handed out to teams that lost more or better compensatory free agents than they acquired in the previous year.

The picks are positioned in rounds three through seven based on the value of compensatory free agents lost determined by a formula taking into account a player's salary, playing time and postseason honors.

Baltimore has received more compensatory picks -- 41 -- than any other team since they were first awarded in 1994.

The Texans, who own the No. 1 overall pick, were one of five teams that received three compensatory picks. The Falcons, Cowboys, Steelers and Rams were the others.

The Bengals, Lions and Packers were each awarded two picks and the Patriots, Giants and 49ers got one apiece.

The Steelers, Packers, Ravens and 49ers drew picks in the third round.

The draft begins on Thursday, May 8, and runs through Saturday, May 10.
