Crew's Anor earns MLS Player of the Week honor

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Columbus Crew midfielder Bernardo Anor was named the Player of the Week on Monday for Week 3 of the 2014 Major League Soccer season.

Anor bagged a first-half brace on Saturday in the Crew's 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Union in the club's home opener at Crew Stadium.

Anor opened his 2014 account in the 24th minute when he was left unmarked on a corner kick and easily nodded the ball past Philadelphia goalkeeper Zac MacMath.

He completed his double in first-half stoppage time when he picked up the ball in the final third following a giveaway by Philadelphia and ripped a 35-yard swerving strike into the side netting past a diving MacMath.

The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from the North America Soccer Reporters (NASR). The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
