Raiders acquire Schaub from Texans

Alameda, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Houston Texans acquired quarterback Matt Schaub in exchange for a selection in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Oakland is scheduled to have a pick in the top five and selecting a quarterback was one of its top priorities. The Raiders may not have to use that selection on a signal-caller now.

Terrelle Pryor, Matt McGloin and Trent Edwards are the other quarterbacks on the Raiders roster.

After leading Houston to back-to-back AFC South Division titles in 2011 and 2012, Schaub struggled in 2013 before being benched in favor of rookie Case Keenum in October.

The 32-year-old Schaub, who had been the Texans' starter for the last seven seasons, is a two-time Pro Bowler and has surpassed 4,000 yards passing three times in his career.

Houston finished 2013 on a 14-game losing streak and holds the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft.

The Texans signed former Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to a two-year deal on Thursday.
