Gustav Nyquist scored a pair of goals to lead the Detroit Red Wings to a 3-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday in an Original Six clash.

Daniel Alfredsson also scored and Jimmy Howard stopped 31 of the 33 shots he faced for the Red Wings, who have won two of their last three games.

Detroit had scored just four goals in their previous four games.

Jake Gardiner and James van Riemsdyk had one goal apiece for the Maple Leafs, losers in three of their last four tilts. James Reimer allowed all three goals on 31 shots.
