Bobrovsky, Okposo and Niemi named NHL's 'Three Stars'

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Columbus goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky, New York Islanders forward Kyle Okposo and San Jose netminder Antti Niemi have been selected as the NHL's 'Three Stars' for the period ending March 16.

The reigning Vezina Trophy winner finished last week with a 2-0-1 record, 1.58 goals-against average and .950 save percentage. Bobrovsky stopped 39 shots in a 4-1 win against Detroit last Tuesday, then made 32 saves in regulation and two key stops in the shootout to give his club a 2-1 decision against Minnesota on Saturday.

Okposo led all players with seven points (1G, 6A) in only three games as the Islanders struggled to stay out of the NHL's basement. His best performance of last week came in a 7-4 win at Vancouver last Monday, as he contributed three assists to a seven-goal third period which helped the Isles erase a 3-0 deficit.

Niemi was perfect in all three starts, posting a 1.67 GAA and .950 save percentage this past week. The Finn completed his week by notching a 41-save, 1-0 shutout victory on Sunday at Madison Square Garden against the Rangers on the heels of a 35-save effort in a 4-3 decision against the Islanders in Uniondale.
