The Denver Broncos announced Sunday they signed wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders to a three-year deal worth up to $18 million.

There were rumors that the former Pittsburgh Steelers player was in talks with the Kansas City Chiefs and a handful of other teams before things were made official with Denver, ESPN reported.

"Situations like that happen all the time all over the National Football League," Sanders said of negotiations with the Chiefs. "There was no handshake, there was no kind of agreement, we were close to a deal, but there wasn't anything official just yet. But in terms of shopping around, we didn't shop around, teams were still calling, teams were still trying to get involved."

"I ended up with the team I wanted to be on," he added.

Sanders was drafted by the Steelers in 2010 and ended the 2013 season with career-bests in catches, 67, receiving yards, 740, and touchdowns, six.

Both parties took to Twitter Sunday to announce their excitement over the news.
