Mason Raymond's shorthanded goal in the third period led the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 3-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday.

Dion Phaneuf and Carl Gunnarsson also scored for the Maple Leafs, who are 2-1-0 on their five-game road trip.

Jonathan Bernier started the game in net, but left after the first period with a lower-body injury as he stopped 8-of-10 shots faced. James Reimer turned away all 31 shots he faced over the final two periods.

Marian Gaborik had a goal and an assist and Anze Kopitar lit the lamp for the Kings, who came into the game winning eight straight and failed in their bid to match the longest winning streak in franchise history. Jonathan Quick allowed all three goals on 29 shots.

With the score tied in the third and Los Angeles on the power play, Reimer kept out a pair of shots from Kopitar and play went the other way.

Skating down the left wing, James van Riemsdyk fired a pass over to the right wing where Raymond blasted it home at 5:06 for a 3-2 lead.

From there Reimer turned away all 14 shots he faced in the third period to give Toronto the win.

The Kings drew first blood at 1:57 as Drew Doughty's shot from the right wing was stopped, but Gaborik got his stick on it then it went off his skate and in for his first goal with Los Angeles.

Kopitar was later stopped by Bernier, but made amends later in the frame as his one-timer from one knee at the right circle off a feed by Doughty on the power play made it a 2-0 game at 16:05 of the first.

However, Toronto got a power-play goal of its own two minutes later when Phaneuf received a pass in the slot from Nazem Kadri and went from the backhand to the forehand, then again to the backhand before lifting it in for his seventh of the year.

The Leafs tied the game at 3:46 of the second as Gunnarsson's big slap shot from the left point sailed past Quick for his second of the season.
