Alabama State takes out Alcorn State in SAC quarterfinals

Jamel Waters scored 16 points to lead three seed Alabama State over six seed Alcorn State, 64-51, in the quarterfinal round of the Southwest Athletic Conference Tournament.

Luther Page added 12 points and 10 boards for the Hornets (19-11), who advance to face second seed Texas Southern in the semifinal round on Friday.

Marquis Vance scored 15 points and LeAntwan Luckett had 12 points for the Braves (12-18), who led 24-22 at halftime only to see Alabama State take control in the second half and cruise to the win.
