Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - PGA TOUR - VALSPAR CHAMPIONSHIP, The Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort, Palm Harbor, Florida - The PGA Tour regroups in Florida this week for the Valspar Championship at Innisbrook Resort.
The tour was split last week between the WGC-Cadillac Championship and Puerto Rico Open.
Last year, Kevin Streelman carded a pair of bogey-free rounds in the weekend to earn his first career victory on the PGA Tour. He finished the tournament at 10-under-par 274, which was two strokes clear of Boo Weekley.
Streelman will try to become the first back-to-back winner of this event when he returns to defend his title this season against a field that includes 10 of the top 30 players in the world.
That group is highlighted by world No. 7 Justin Rose, No. 11 Matt Kuchar and last year's PGA Tour Rookie of the Year Jordan Spieth, who tied for seventh at this event last year.
Golf Channel will have television coverage of the first two days and early on the weekend before handing off to NBC for the evening.
The PGA Tour remains in Florida next week for the Arnold Palmer Invitational, where Tiger Woods won the event for the eighth time in a Monday finish last year, reclaiming the top spot in the world rankings for the first time since October 2010. Woods is scheduled to appear, but his status is cloudy after tweaking a back injury at Doral.
EUROPEAN TOUR
TROPHY HASSAN II - Golf du Palais Royal, Agadir, Morocco - The European Tour will also reconvene this week with the Trophee Hassan II in Morocco.
Marcel Siem completed a wire-to-wire victory with a 2-under 70 during the final round last year to earn his third career European Tour title.
Siem saw his 4-shot lead at the beginning of the day disappear by the sixth hole, but birdied the seventh and 11th while his competitors struggled to reclaim the lead for good.
The German will defend his title this week and will seek to rebound from missing the cut at the PGA Tour's Puerto Rico Open last week.
Mikko Ilonen and 2010 champion David Horsey, who shared second place behind Siem last year, will also be in the field.
Golf Channel will have television coverage of all four rounds.
The European Tour will have off next week before returning in two weeks for the Eurasia Cup in Malaysia, which is a new event.
CHAMPIONS TOUR
TOSHIBA CLASSIC, Newport Beach Country Club, Newport Beach, California - The Champions Tour returns from a month hiatus this week for the Toshiba Classic at Newport Beach Country Club.
David Frost tied the tournament record at 19-under-par 194 as he captured his fourth career Champions Tour win at this event last year.
Frost will seek to defend his title this week against a field that also includes the three previous winners of this season, Bernhard Langer, Michael Allen and Kirk Triplett.
Golf Channel will have television coverage of all three rounds.
The Champions Tour moves to Mississippi next week for the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic, where Allen earned a 1-stroke victory over Langer in 2013.
WEB.COM TOUR
BRASIL CHAMPIONS, Sao Paulo Golf Club, Sao Paulo, Brazil - The Web.com Tour remains in South America this week for the Brasil Champions.
Benjamin Alvarado birdied the 17th hole last year before parring the last to hang on for a 1-stroke victory over Dawie van der Walt, collecting his first career title on the Web.com Tour in the process.
Alvarado will not be back to defend his title, but van der Walt will be in the field this week. Colombia Championship winner Alex Cejka and Chile Classic champion Adam Hadwin will also be playing.
There will be no television coverage.
The Web.com Tour travels north to Panama next week for the Panama Claro Championship, where Kevin Foley rolled in a 15-foot birdie putt at the final hole last year to capture his first career victory.
