Canadiens' Gorges sidelined with broken hand

Josh Gorges, defenseman for the Montreal Canadiens, had surgery Monday to repair a broken bone in his left hand. He will be recovering for the next four weeks.

Montreal (UPI/SportsNetwork.com) -- Montreal Canadiens defenseman Josh Gorges is expected to be sidelined for at least a month after undergoing surgery Monday to repair a broken bone in his left hand.

The Canadiens said Gorges' recovery time is four weeks, which would take him to the final week of the regular season.

Gorges has one goal and 12 assists for 13 points in 63 games this season. His plus-7 rating is the best among Montreal defensemen.
