NCAA Game Summary - IUPUI vs. IUPU-Fort Wayne

Sioux Falls, SD (SportsNetwork.com) - Luis Jacobo led the way with 19 points as the second-seed IUPU-Fort Wayne Mastodons throttled the seventh-seeded IUPUI Jaguars, 85-47, in a quarterfinal-round matchup in the Summit League Tournament at Sioux Falls Arena.

For the Mastodons (23-9), Steve Forbes added 11 points and nine rebounds, Mo Evans tallied 13 points and Joe Edwards netted 10. Fort Wayne moves on to play the winner of the South Dakota State-Western Illinois tilt.

Mitch Patton led the way with 18 points for the Jaguars (6-26), and Ian Chiles scored 12 in the losing effort.

Fort Wayne was hot from the floor to start the game, connecting on 52.9 percent of its field goal tries in the first half. With the game tied at 14-14 with just over six minutes gone in the first, the Mastodons finished the half on a 26-8 run to take a 40-22 lead at the break. IUPUI shot a respectable 43.5 percent from the field in the first half.

The Mastodons were even better after halftime, knocking down 63 percent of their shots from the field and 4-of-8 from 3-point range. The Jaguars struggled after intermission, shooting just 39.3 percent and missing all but one of their eight shots from beyond the arc. Fort Wayne extended its lead to as many as 38 points in the second as the Mastodons cruised to victory.

The Mastodons dominated the paint, outscoring the Jaguars, 48-26. Fort Wayne also finished the game with a 39-23 rebounding advantage and a 23-9 edge in points off turnovers. IUPUI went just 2-of-6 from the free-throw line in the loss.
