DENVER, March 3 (UPI) -- Denver Broncos fans who are hoping to see their team return to the Super Bowl next season in the NFL can breathe a sign of relief -- Peyton Manning’s neck is “fine.”

The veteran quarterback underwent a postseason exam Monday on his surgically-repaired neck after previously passing a physical given to all Broncos players following the Super Bowl loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Manning has had four neck surgeries and missed the 2011 season because of a spinal fusion operation. Denver officials expected him to return for 2014 and it appears that expectation is now a reality.

The NFL’s all-time single-season passing touchdown record holder has a five-year, $96 million deal that runs through the 2016 season. He won NFL MVP after throwing for 5,477 yards and 55 touchdowns during the 2013 season.
