March 1 (UPI) -- Miami Heat superstar LeBron James won't be wearing his fancy new black face guard in Saturday's game against Orlando after the NBA requested he wear one of a selection of league-approved masks.

James made waves with his all-black mask he started wearing to protect his broken nose. He even joked in an Instagram post that it was reminiscent of the dark knight himself, Batman.

"Always wanted to save Gotham City from the corruption, criminals and untrustworthy that brings the city down! #SuperHeroThoughts #SignalInTheAir #ImBatman #StriveForGreatness," he wrote.

But it looks like the NBA isn't a big fan of attention-drawing face gear. James initially appealed the NBA's decision, but eventually relented to select from the league-approved gear.
