Kings' DeMarcus Cousins draws one-game suspension

Feb. 27, 2014 at 6:31 PM   |   Comments

NEW YORK, Feb. 27 (UPI) -- Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins was slapped with a one-game suspension Thursday after punching Houston's Patrick Beverley in the stomach.

Cousins was whistled for two technical fouls and ejected in the third quarter of the Kings' Tuesday contest against the Rockets after punching the Rockets guard.

After the ejection, he argued with referees for several minutes before finally leaving the court -- an action that drew an additional $20,000 fine.

The fourth-year pro has 15 technicals this season, the most in the NBA. Each technical Cousins receives from this point will result in another one-game suspension.

Cousins leads the Kings in scoring at 22.3 points per game and rebounding at 11.5 per contest.
