NEW YORK, Feb. 26 (UPI) -- Jason Collins, who is on a 10-day contract with the Brooklyn Nets, has had his jersey with number 98 become the best-selling in the NBA.

The number 98 jersey is in honor of the slain teenager Matthew Shepard, who was killed in an anti-gay hate crime in 1998. Rather than being focused on history being made or jersey sales, Collins says, "Right now I'm just trying to focus on learning the plays."

Collins is on a 10-day contract with the Nets, which is essentially a "try-out" period. If all goes well, he could be signed for the rest of the season, which would make his jersey available permanently.
