TAMPA, Fla., Feb. 26 (UPI) -- Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston has already won a Heisman Trophy and a national title, so it makes sense that he is a pretty confident guy.

As it turns out, the dual-sport athlete is so sure of his abilities that he thinks it’s possible he could be the next Bo Jackson or Deion Sanders and become a star in both the NFL and Major League Baseball.

Winston spoke about the subject with the New York Post on Tuesday when he was at Steinbrenner Field with the Florida State baseball team for a spring training game against the Yankees. “I’m just 20 years old, living my life, man,” Winston said. “I want to play both as long as I can.”

His football head coach, Jimbo Fisher, supports Winston in his choice to play both baseball and football.

“I love two- and three-sport guys. I think you learn to compete in different ways. Each sport is different,” Fisher said. “Baseball is very good, especially for a quarterback, because it’s a game of failure. You’re going to fail a lot and to be able to respond right back and be able to handle a different temperament. I think it actually helps their development.”

The FSU football star didn’t pitch as the Seminoles lost to the Yanks 8-3, but he did get up to bat. “It was surreal,” Winston said “Probably better than winning the national championship.”
