Dominika Cibulkova lives up to top seed with Mexican Open win

ACAPULCO, Mexico, Feb. 26 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Dominika Cibulkova led a parade of seeded players that advanced to the second round of the Mexican Open Tuesday.

The diminutive Slovakian cruised past Urszula Radwanska of Poland 6-3, 6-4 in Tuesday's first round, which saw only one seeded player sent packing.

Sharon Fichman knocked out fifth-seeded Yvonne Meusberger 6-1, 6-3 on the clay courts in Acapulco.

Second-seeded Eugenie Bouchard moved on with a first-round win over Shahar Peer 6-2, 6-2. Third-seeded Kaja Kanepi ousted Jana Cepelova, 6-1, 3-6, 6-2, and No. 8 Zhang Shuai rallied to beat Madison Keys of the United States 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.
