Feb. 24, 2014 at 3:33 PM

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Feb. 24 (UPI) -- NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. made good on his promise to join Twitter if he won the Daytona 500, posting a photo of himself with the race trophy.

The "@DaleJr" Twitter account has 230,000 followers, although Earnhardt never used it until he won the iconic race Sunday evening, USA Today reported.

His first Twitter post featured a photo of himself and the trophy and the phrase, "Tonight seemed as good a night as any to join Twitter. How is everyone doin'?."

Earnhardt Jr. won the rain-delayed race after finishing in second place three times in the past four years.
