Nordqvist extends lead at LPGA Thailand tournament

CHONBURI, Thailand, Feb. 22 (UPI) -- Anna Nordqvist shot 31 on the second nine Saturday and extended her lead to four strokes with one round to play at the Honda LPGA Thailand golf tournament.

Nordqvist had four birdies, an eagle and a bogey for a third-round score of 5-under-par 67 that put her at 11-under 205 for the tournament.

World No. 1-ranked Inbee Park, the tournament defending champion, also shot 67 Saturday and pulled into a tie for second with Michelle Wie, had a bogey-free 69 in the third round. They are at 7-under.

Julieta Granada turned in a 71 Saturday and sits alone in fourth at 6-under. Yani Tseng (66 Saturday), Cristie Kerr (68), Lydia Ko (69) and Lexi Thompson (69) are tied for fifth at 5-under.

Nordqvist opened the third round with a one-stroke lead and, after a birdie at the second hole and a bogey at No. 5, was even on the day through nine holes.

She started to pull away with an eagle at the par-5 10th and added birdies at Nos. 12 and 15. A birdie at 18 pushed the advantage to four strokes.

Nordqvist is looking for her third LPGA title. The first two came in her rookie season of 2009.
