LOS ANGELES, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- Two men accused of beating a man in Los Angeles' Dodger Stadium parking lot in 2011, leaving him with brain damage, pleaded guilty Thursday to assault charges.
Marvin Norwood, 30, and Louie Sanchez, 31, faced charges of mayhem, assault and battery in the beating of Bryan Stow, 44, after a baseball game at the stadium.
Stow, a Northern California resident, suffered head trauma and a permanent disability, indicating he will require care for the rest of his life.
Norwood received a four-year sentence in Los Angeles Superior Court after he pleaded guilty to assault causing great bodily injury. Sanchez pleaded guilty to one count of mayhem and received an eight-year sentence, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Stow was attacked after he and three friends, each a San Francisco Giants fan, walked through a parking lot after the Dodgers' 2011 Opening Day win over the Giants. Witnesses at a preliminary hearing in 2013 described drunken and profane behavior by Sanchez against the group.
