MARSEILLE, France, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- Seeded players Ivan Dodig and Edouard Roger-Vasselin claimed first-round wins Tuesday at the Open 13 tennis tournament in France.

Dodig, the No. 5 seed, topped French wild-card entry Albano Olivetti 7-5, 6-2. Dodig had to fight off 11 break points in the match but didn't drop serve.

Roger-Vasselin, seeded sixth, rallied for a close 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 win over Ante Pavic. Roger-Vasselin also needed to play strong defense as Pavic had six break chances in the third set but wasn't able to finish off any of them. Roger-Vasselin ended the match with the only break of the set.

Nikolay Davydenko advanced with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Igor Sijsling, winning 67 percent of the points on serve and losing his serve just once. Sergiy Stakhovsky outlasted Daniel Evans to a 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 win by saving 10 of the 12 break points he saw.

Tobias Kamke took eight of the last nine games and capped Tuesday's play with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Kyle Edmund. The match was 5-5 when Kamke posted the first break of the day and then ran away with the second set.
