Britain earns curling semifinal spot in tiebreak match

SOCHI, Russia, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- Britain came up with two points in the final end Tuesday to defeat Norway 6-5 in a tiebreak and earn a semifinal berth in the men's Olympic curling tournament.

Britain and Norway finished tied for fourth place in the round-robin portion of the event, forcing a playoff to see which one would compete in the semifinals.

The dramatic finish set up a semifinal meeting between Britain and Sweden on Wednesday. Canada and China will face off in the other semifinal.

The women's semifinals will also take place on Wednesday with Britain meeting Canada and Sweden taking on Switzerland.
