The top four teams at the end of the nine-game round-robin tournament will compete in the semifinals on Wednesday.

Canada, which clinched its semifinal position on Saturday, advanced to 8-0 by defeating the Americans 7-6. It took an extra end for Canada to pull out the victory over a team that has just one victory in the Olympic tourney.

Neither China nor Britain played on Sunday and they remained tied for third place with 4-3 records. Switzerland is 4-4 and missed a chance to take third place by itself when it fell to Japan 8-7. The Japanese kept their hopes alive with that victory. They are alone in sixth place at 3-4.

Monday's two sessions of matches will end the round-robin portion of the event and the semifinal pairings will be set. The gold and bronze medal matches will be played on Thursday.
