Olympic Medal: Men's 1500m Speed Skating

SOCHI, Russia, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Zbigniew Brodka of Poland won the Olympic gold medal Saturday in the 1,500-meter speed skating race.

Brodka's victory came by .003 of a second over Koen Verweij of the Netherlands. The bronze went to Denny Morrison of Canada, who won the 1,000-meter silver earlier in these Olympics.

Americans Brian Hansen and Shani Davis finished seventh and 11th after abandoning their high-tech racing suits that had been developed for the Olympics. The change did not help and the United States is still without a medal with five speed skating events left in the Games.
