SOCHI, Russia, Feb. 12 (UPI) -- Tina Maze of Slovenia and Dominique Gisin of Switzerland were both awarded a gold medal Wednesday in the women's downhill.

The bronze medal was won by another Swiss skier, Lara Gut.

Maze and Gisin had identical times down to the hundredth of a second -- 1:41.57. It was the first time in the history of the Winter Games that a tie had been declared in an alpine skiing event.
