Rain in Spain shuffled Fed Cup matches with Czech Republic

Feb. 8, 2014 at 2:09 PM   |   Comments

SEVILLE, Spain, Feb. 8 (UPI) -- Rainy weather Saturday brought the Fed Cup quarterfinals series between Spain and Czech Republic to a halt for the day.

Carla Suarez Navarro cooled her heels for several hours before the weather in Seville lifted and she could complete her 6-1, 6-4 win over the Czechs' Barbora Zahlova Strycova in the first -- and, as it turned out, the only -- rubber singles of the day.

The second Saturday rubber between Maria-Teresa Torro-Flor of Spain and Klara Zakopalova was rescheduled for Sunday.

Sunday will be a busy day with three singles matches on the schedule. Torro-Flor and Zakopalova were both penciled in for two matches on the same day.
