SOCHI, Russia, Feb. 8 (UPI) --
Sven Kramer led a sweep of the Olympic 5,000-meter speed skating medals for the Netherlands Saturday, winning gold and setting a record in the process.
Kramer covered the distance in the Olympic record time of 6:10.76 to successfully defend his title in the event.
The silver medal went to Jan Blokhuijsen and the bronze was won by Jorrit Bergsma.
It was the first time since the Albertville Olympics in 1992 that all three medals in a speed skating event had gone to the same country.
