WASHINGTON, Feb. 8 (UPI) --
Julien Brouillette broke a scoreless tie in the third period with his first NHL goal Saturday and the Washington Capitals went on to blank New Jersey 3-0.
Brouillette's blast from the left point midway through the final period provided the first offense for the Capitals, who then sealed the victory on empty-netters from Martin Erat and Troy Brouwer.
Braden Holtby recorded his third shutout of the season with 25 saves as Washington entered the Winter Olympics break with a third win in four games.
Cory Schneider turned aside 23-of-24 shots for the Devils, who fell for the third time in four contests.
