WASHINGTON, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Danny Green's 3-pointer helped San Antonio finally take over in the second overtime Wednesday en route to a 125-118 win over Washington.
The Wizards missed a chance for a big win by letting a 14-point halftime lead get away. Washington appeared beaten in the first overtime, but staged an improbable comeback before eventually running out of steam.
San Antonio won its third in a row, getting 31 points and 11 rebounds from Tim Duncan. His jump shot with 1:04 to play in the fourth period were the final points scored in regulation and he gave the Spurs a six-point cushion in the first overtime with 51 seconds left.
Washington's John Wall then outscored San Antonio 8-2 the rest of the way to force a second extra period. Wall stole the ball from Duncan and scored with four seconds remaining to tie the game.
Marco Belinelli hit a jumper for the Spurs to break a tie with 2:03 left in the second overtime and Green then came through with his big shot to put San Antonio in front by five.
The Wizards came no closer than four the rest of the way.
Patty Mills scored 26 points for the Spurs and Green had 22 along with seven rebounds. Wall finished with 29 points for the Wizards, who took 101 shots in the game and made 44.
