ATLANTA, Feb. 4 (UPI) -- Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman has agreed to a new eight-year contract, the team announced Tuesday.

Freeman, 24, is coming off a season in which he hit a career-best .319, tied a personal high with 23 home runs provided 109 RBI, also tops in his four-year career.

The deal, worth a reported $135 million, is the richest in the Braves' history.

Freeman has racked up 68 homers, 93 doubles and 280 RBI with a .285 average in 471 career games with Atlanta, which took him in the second round of 2007 amateur draft.
