Goodell told "Fox News Sunday" that playing up the off-season progression from Super Bowl to season opener appeals to fans as well as innovative uses of technology were avenues the league was delving into in order to drum up interest in NFL football during the spring and summer months.
"We are talking about the entire calendar year," Goodell said. "We have a draft that attracts record audiences. We have camps. We have [scouting] combines."
Goodell said advances in technology and growing international appeal was rapidly expanding the NFL's audience. "It technology changes for us that we have to bring it into our stadiums," he said, "We have to make sure that we're making the experience in our stadiums a fantastic experience."
And while the NFL might appear to be sitting pretty as the premier sport in the United States, Goodell said the league was not about to become complacent.
"We don't believe that our current success is going to drive us forward without being aggressive," Goodell said. "We have to find new ways to grow."
