MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 29 (UPI) --
A 30-point, 14-rebound effort from Kevin Love
Wednesday lifted Minnesota to an 88-77 decision over New Orleans.
The Timberwolves led by as many as 13 points in the fourth period en route to their second straight win.
Minnesota shot only 40 percent from the field, but limited the Pelicans to 35 percent. Kevin Martin added 18 points for the Timberwolves and Dante Cunningham came off the bench to deliver 12 points.
New Orleans, which was trying for its first four-game winning streak of the season, was led by Al-Farouq Aminu with 18 points.
Minnesota played its first game since losing Nikola Pekovic indefinitely with an ankle injury. Tests revealed Pekovic has bursitis in the ankle and it will be at least a week before he is examined again.
Pekovic is averaging 18 points a game this season.
