Gamble was the Eagles' general manager or president for 11 seasons, from 1985 to 1995.
He also was head coach at Lafayette College from 1967 to 1970 and at the University of Pennsylvania from 1971 to 1980. Prior to his college career, he coached at Clayton and Audubon High Schools in Pennsylvania, leading Audubon to an undefeated season in 1960, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported Tuesday.
The cause of his death was not announced.
"Coaching is what I wanted to do. It was my goal in life. Ending up being general manager and president of an organization like the Philadelphia Eagles was icing on the cake," Gamble said in 1995.
