NHL: Colorado 4, Dallas 3

DALLAS, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- Semyon Varlamov turned aside 41 shots, including all 13 he faced in the third period, helping the Colorado Avalanche get past Dallas 4-3.

The Avs broke a 3-3 tie early in the final period when Alex Tanguay's pass from the left side of the net bounced off the skate a Stars defender and past Kari Lehtonen.

Varlamov made the one-goal advantage hold up with several sparkling stops down the stretch, including a save on Antoine Roussel with about 3 1/2 minutes remaining.

Nathan MacKinnon, Jamie McGinn and Paul Stastny also scored as Colorado recorded a sixth victory in eight games.

Tyler Seguin paced Dallas with two goals and an assist.

Jamie Benn added a goal and an assist and Lehtonen finished with 17 saves as the Stars fell for the first time in four contests.
