Scott Stallings' final-hole birdie nets Torrey Pines victory

LA JOLLA, Calif., Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Scott Stallings emerged from a crowded field with a birdie on the final hole Sunday, claiming the Farmers Insurance Open with a 4-under 68.

Stallings finished the event at 9-under-par 279, edging ahead of a group of 10 competitors who each had a share of lead during the final round at Torrey Pines.

Second place at minus-8 was shared by K.J. Choi -- who fired the low round of the days at 6-under 66 -- Graham DeLaet (68), Jason Day (68), Pat Perez (70) and 2010 runner-up Marc Leishman (71).

Sharing seventh one shot further back were Charley Hoffman (67), Will MacKenzie (70) and Ryo Ishikawa (70).

Knotted for 10th place at minus-6 were Trevor Immelman (69), Seung-Yul Noh (69), Justin Thomas (69), Brad Fritsch (71), third-round leader Gary Woodland (74) and Russell Knox (70).
