NHL: Tampa Bay 5, Colorado 2

TAMPA, Fla., Jan. 25 (UPI) -- Rookie Tyler Johnson recorded his first career hat trick Saturday, powering the Tampa Bay Lightning over Colorado 5-2.

Valtteri Filppula notched a goal and an assist, Mark Barberio scored and Victor Hedman had three assists for the Bolts, who picked up a third straight victory.

Ben Bishop stopped 25-of-27 shots.

Tyson Barrie tallied a goal and an assist and John Mitchell scored for the Avalanche, who fell to a 1-1-0 on a three-game road trip.

Sami Aittokallio made an emergency start after Jean-Sebastien Giguere came up with a stiff back before the game. The 21-year-old, making his second career NHL start, allowed three goals on 18 shots through two periods.

Semyon Varlamov finished with nine saves in the final period.
