NHL: Dallas 4, Minnesota 0

DALLAS, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- Kari Lehtonen posted an 18-shot shutout Tuesday and the Dallas Stars blanked Minnesota 4-0 for just a second victory in 11 games.

Lehtonen made nine saves in the third period in notching his second whitewash of the season and 24th of his career.

Vernon Fiddler, Jordie Benn, Ray Whitney and Erik Cole scored for Dallas, which came into the game nine points behind Minnesota and Vancouver for a Western Conference wild card playoff spot.

Darcy Kuemper stopped 32-of-36 shots for the Wild, who were coming off a 3-2 overtime victory over Stars in their previous game Saturday.
