PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- Severe weather in the U.S. Northeast led officials to postpone Tuesday's scheduled NHL game between the Carolina Hurricanes and the Flyers in Philadelphia.

No make-up date was announced.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for southeastern Pennsylvania. Snowfall of 6-10 inches was predicted for Philadelphia Tuesday with an additional 4-6 inches expected overnight. Northeast winds of 15-25 mph were also expected.

Philadelphia is third in the NHL's Metropolitan Division with 56 points. Carolina is seventh in the eighth-team division with 49.
