DALLAS, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- A Dallas jury received the intoxication manslaughter case of former Dallas Cowboy Josh Brent after defense and prosecution lawyers' closing arguments Tuesday.
Brent faces up to 20 years imprisonment for the death of teammate Jerry Brown Jr., who was a passenger in Brent's car when it struck a curb at a high rate of speed and flipped over after the two left a Dallas nightclub in Dec. 2012.
Defense attorney George Milner told jurors in Dallas County court Brent spoke clearly, without slurring his words, in the 911 call he made after the accident, an argument was that Brent was not drunk on the night of the incident, WFAA-TV, Dallas, reported.
Prosecutor Jason Hermus played footage of Brent's sobriety test and noted Brent failed it.
Brent's blood alcohol level was .189 on the night of the accident, more than double the legal limit. His lawyers have questioned the validity of those results, the Dallas Morning News said.
