EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Jan. 17 (UPI) -- The Super Bowl is expected to bring 400,000 people to the northern New Jersey area, and small town mayors say they plan to keep tourists busy.

Officials in Secaucus and other municipalities near East Rutherford, the site of the Feb. 2 game, are proposing tourists stay to party and sight-see in New Jersey, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday.

While venues in Manhattan will feature elaborate hotel rooftop parties, New Jersey hopes to add a more down-home feel to the weekend.

East Rutherford Mayor James Castella said his town's tailgate party on the day of the game will take over much of the community and will include a Bruce Springsteen tribute band.

"I don't think you'd want to vacation in Secaucus by itself," admitted Mayor Michael Gonnelli, "but you are certainly close to New York [City], and you can get anywhere on the East Coast from the train station here."

City officials in Hoboken are building three curling lanes and bringing in curling experts to teach newcomers about the game, and a 16-foot sculpture of the Roman numerals XLVIII, identifying the Super Bowl, will stand at the city shore, set against the Manhattan skyline for a picture opportunity, the newspaper said.

Former Secaucus resident Cindy Fox, 47, better known as the Naked Cowgirl of Times Square, will be in Secaucus on Super Bowl Sunday.

"I grew up here. I have a lot of pressure to look awesome and perform great," she said. Her act involves singing and playing guitar while wearing a cowboy hat and bikini.

Her hometown is also preparing a beer garden, a mobile New Jersey Hall of Fame and tents featuring country music.

The town of Ridgewood will offer a chili contest, ice skating and a marching band performance.
