Harvin ruled out for NFC title game

SEATTLE, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- The Seattle Seahawks announced Friday wide receiver Percy Harvin would not play in Sunday's NFC title game due to a concussion.

"He will not make it through the doctor's protocol and will not be able to go," Seattle Coach Pete Carroll said.

Harvin was injured during the second quarter of last weekend's 23-15 playoff victory over New Orleans. The game against the Saints was only the second appearance in a Seattle uniform for Harvin, who was acquired in a trade prior to the 2013 season.

He had hip surgery in August and played in only one regular-season game, that being a meeting with Minnesota, his former team, on Nov. 17.
